Welcome to the Birmingham Comedy Festival 2019, the annual 10-day city-wide mirth-filled extravaganza that mixes big comedy names with emerging talent.

This year’s festival sees over 80 performances including James Acaster, The Last Leg’s Josh Widdicombe, Henning Wehn, and Reginald D Hunter. In addition Comedy Central’s Impractical Jokers will perform as well.

Plus look out for appearances from Jonathan Pie, Jay Rayner, poet Pam Ayres, and Laurel and Hardy. Come enjoy some of the very best acts from Birmingham and the West Midlands! In addition, you can plan a joyous night with City Nites.

While stand-up comedy forms the core of the festival, we’ve also included a vast range of other activities. These are, to mention a few:

  • theatre,
  • cabaret,
  • burlesque,
  • improv’,
  • sketch comedy,
  • folk,
  • classical music,
  • DJ/ club nights,
  • pub quizzes,
  • puppet shows,
  • film screenings,
  • dance performances,
  • blockbuster
  • West End musicals,
  • spoken word/ poetry readings,
  • book signings,
  • food and drink,
  • contemporary visual art,
  • photography,
  • workshops,
  • debates,
  • podcasts.

The festival is unfunded and volunteer-led. It is not run to make money. It’s to simply celebrate comedy.

This is one of the longest-running comedy festivals in the UK. Needless to say its original aim is to highlight some of the many great comedy clubs, venues and acts within the city remains.

We like comedy. We hope you do too.
